turn signals and flashers
« on: June 26, 2012, 11:05:55 AM »
At the beginning of may, i suddenly noticed i had no turn signals or emergency flashers. i replaced the fuse and it kept blowing. took it to the chevy dealer and they replaced the turn signal/flasher switch (for $660) and it worked fine until friday. Same thing:no signals or emergency flashers, but everything else works,ie brake lights. Anyone else have this problem? could it be my wig wags or sail panel leds? dealer has had the truck for 2 days and noanswers yet!  banghead1

Could be anything downstream of that fuse.  Could be a bad trailer wiring module, or something like that, I forget its exact name.  If my memory holds, the rear turn signals are driven off of that module - I've had to replace mine, although I don't think my symptoms matched yours exactly.

when does the fuse blow? only when turning lights on? Sounds like a short somewhere. Have you made any changes to anything recently? Do any of the signals work individually? Try to single it out if possible...

the lights work fine,no problems there. its when i hit the turn signal it pops the fuse immediately. the dealer says the modules are fine , now they want to start tearing off my aftermarket stuff until they find a solution.i put on two new led strips rt before this started happening. think i'll have them start there...

I'd be very skeered of what they'd end up charging to track this down.

Starting with what you put on just before this started is a very good place to start.  Is there no easy way to unplug those strips yourself and see if the issue goes away?

sounds to me like you may have pinched a wire somewhere. if you turn either turnsignal on it blows? Whats the amps on the LED strips. Could be too much amp draw on the circuit but LEDS are usually low amps any ways. I would put money on a pinched wire. Before the fuse blows do they light up for a quick second. Try at night and see if all the lights light up or not. May help pin point the pinch.

You could remove the LEDS and test to make sure its not in the LED assembly. Also are you pulling a trailer or anything?
