4 ohm or 2 ohm sub help???
« on: February 11, 2012, 03:23:37 PM »
Doing a midgate box, now FINAL on my choices that I am going to do two 12" kicker CVR's with the ZX750 amp to power this. Anyways, these subs can either be purchases as a 4 ohm or 2 ohm sub. My friend said I'll be splitting them since I am doing two subs so with this set up, what should I do to make sure i don't fry anything and sounds GREAT!  :winkani:

because if you go 4ohm subs you can wire them parallel and that will get the most power that the amp will put out

well they are 400 watt each and your amp is only 750 at 2 ohm or 375 at 4 ohm so i believe in order to get the most power you need to get 2ohm subs wire the daul voice coils in a series then run them parallel to the amp. this site will help you understand the concept and how to do it.

If you get a 4ohm speaker and run the coils in parallel you will end up with 2ohm inpendence. The less resistance you have the more power.

But Kicker does that at 14.4 Volts Which your truck will NEVER give that amp..  If you want a true Amp check out the JL Audio / Series with there power supply and wired up right it will give the power you want at 11.5-14 Volts all day long...  There 500/1v2 has been known to give 600 watts RMS and the 1000/1v2 about 1200 watts RMS
