omega ac-1.5
« on: February 08, 2012, 10:43:24 PM »
Well my buddy decided to be nice and give me his omega ac-1.5 gallon tank and 3 horns since he bought a car and cNt fit it anywhere.

i have a couple of questions. am i going to have to run a switch to recharge the tank? or can i just run tht straight to the battery and have it auto cutoff?(possible?? If so thats what i want) There also the wires coming from the horn, i assume the positive from the horn is where i add my momentary switch to produce my long overdue much desired loud horn, And the other ill just ground.

Also, where in the heck do i mount theese monstrous horns to where te sound doesnt fill the cab lol? And lastly where do yall mount the compressor? Not sure its gonna fit in the saddle bag door.

I'd find a power source that's only on when when the ignition is on or you'll end up killing your battery all the time. I haven't seen an air system yet that doesn't leak which means the pressure switch will turn on the compressor every time it gets low.

Mine are set up that way.

If you don't want the sound in the cab then you won't be installing them  :cheesy1:  You may have to take off the top of the saddlebag to fit your set up down inside. That's how others I've seen in there were done. Check to see if the horns will fit on the outside of the frame rail on the drivers side. That's a popular place for mounting them.

well we removed the spare tire and put it all back there. We powered the compressor to the rear right tail light,
And he found a wire under the dash that had power all the time to wire the horn. put me a fancy momentary switch on there and scared the shit out of ppl!!! My only complaint is that its facing the back iono where to mount it anywhere else.

Mike is right .... you have a few options ....

I have a switch to turn on/off my compressors but that switch is only powered when the truck is on so my compressors do not come on when the truck is off .... I also have power run directly to the relay from the battery ... when the pressure is to low ... the compessors will kick on ... (as long as the truck is on) ...

I would only run it this way due to what Mike said .... that 1st day you come out the battery is dead .... I think you will be changing the wiring ....

and leaking is true too ... my compressors will kick on at least once a week when I 1st start the truck in the morning .....  :tickedoff:

Mine are too big to go anywhere other than where the spare tire used to be (pointing backwards). A lot of people have them mounted on the outside of the driver's side frame rail behind the rear tire.

Just a word of advice, but I would not wire the compressor to the light circuit.  #1 that compressor draws more amperage than the light circuit was originally designed for and #2 you run the risk of losing your lights while driving.  Not an issue until that one night you are out having fun scaring people and lose lights.

Just a word of caution.
