I am looking at puting a level kit on my 2003 noncladded Z71. I've looked at a few different ones , some come with 3/4" to 1" spacers for the rear coils, and some do not? I now have stock 17" wheels with 265/70 /17 tires. I hear after the kit is installed I can run 285s?  Why do some kits have the rear coil spacers and some do not? Which is better? I don't plan on going off road, but I want it a little bit higher with out the" rear in the air " stance.

If you aren't wanting the rear any higher than it already is, the leveling kits you should be looking at shouldn't be adding spacers to the rear.

You should be able to put on 285s even without leveling, particularly if you were to go with a 65 or 60 series tire.  I've got the stock suspension/no body lift in my 03 Z66 and run 285/60R18s in the summer, although I've had to do some trimming of the plastic fender liners, although that is largely due to the increased offset in the aftermarket wheels I'm running which causes some rubbing when the steering wheel is at full lock turn.

I have stock suspension and run 285/75/16 with no problem have the torrsion bars cranked up so the truck is level.  looks and rides fine it is a 2005 cladded.

I'm pretty sure Fowlhunter did the same thing. It does look great. On mine, I changed out the torsion bar keys to a higher indexing key from Summit racing to level it out.

in october, I received a set of 1.5-2.5" torsion bar leveling keys for my birthday.  they have yet to be installed, but were relatively cheap considering they fall under the category of "suspension lift".  nothing needs to be altered, and the only additional parts i needed to buy were longer front shocks (bilstein), which supported enough extra travel for a 3" lift.  the cost to get them installed by the dealer in which i bought the truck is $200.  for a while the truck will sit almost as if it were a 3/4 ton, until i get some new wheels and tires, the tires being 285/70r17.  thanks.

I also changed my torsion bar keys except I went with a set off a. ford which also index more than stock and they were cheaper. If you go this route be sure to have it aligned.

Agreed, make sure you go get an alignment if you change/modify the keys.
