Topic: steering wheel dic and audio control buttons

My new to me (used) 2003 has the audio,dic steering wheel controls. The previous owner must have rested his fingers on a few of these buttons every time he drove the truck. He wore off  the black color on a few of the buttons.  Has any one fixed this before ? Can they be painted? if so what color will match as they are not a dark black color but kinda blackish grey.

I don't know how well painting them will work but if you try it, let us know how well it works. I know others have replaced them. I think you can get all 4 of them for under $100.

Replacing them sounds like a much bettter plan. I didnt know you could get them, I just thought I would have to replace the whole steering wheel. Do you know where I might find them ?
