Looking At An AR
« on: October 10, 2011, 09:48:39 AM »
Starting to look around at an AR but am not quite sure what I want. I can get one at the BX on base for quite a bit cheaper and tax free. They have a very nice Ruger that is nicely equipped but it is $1600. Not quite sure i can spend that much right now. They did have an Olympic Arms as well for right around $400 but not as equipped and probably not as nice.

Anybody have any opinions? All good and bad comments as well as pics of yours if you have one. As well as the brand you have.

Interesting. Guess I don't understand how pulling the gun forward is any different than pulling the trigger.

Now that is the best idea I have heard in a long time.

Firebreather MKII

Very reliable and it will eat any ammo you care to feed it. Steel cased, no problem.

GSE pistol upper with 7.5" stainless/chrome barrel, "split-A" forged upper receiver, new and improved 2nd Generation recoil kit complete with modified chrome bolt carrier and full length carbine spring that actually uses the rear of the receiver as part of the buffer system in order to use the shortest AR buffer tube available today at only 4 inches.
Midwest Industries MI Gen2 free float rail weighs only 9 oz.
It is all built on a C3 Defense billet machined lower. C3 lowers are head and shoulders about the competition with several unique design characteristics. It has an adjustable seating screw that has a nylon insert that keeps constant pressure on the tab of the upper. This provides a rock solid mount between upper and lower. No movement at all. The C3 lower also has a grooved area on the front of the magwell providing a secure grip for those who use this way of gripping an AR.
The lower parts is an LMT kit which is the same kits used in many high dollar ARs. Hammer casting marks help identify this kit in case you ever decide to sell the gun (two S marks inside squares). A Magpul MOE pistol grip. Magpul MOE GEN2 front and rear sights (yes they are real. purchased from 400J&L shop). A Magpul aluminum Enhanced trigger guard.
