Clicking noise not u-joint
« on: September 16, 2011, 04:23:30 PM »
I have a clicking noise when I accelerate.  The U-joint was bad so I replaced them and the noise is still there.  When I slow down and then accelerate again it clicks.  It sounds just like a U-joint but there new and the drive shaft is tight, any help?

The clicking was there before i replaced the U-joints.  They were bad so i thought thats what is was.  Replaced them but the noise is still there.

Going out on a limb with this one. Have you ever taken the rear rotors off to inspect the parking brakes? Might be something in there rubbing.

Haven't checked them, but my parking brake doesn't work so maybe.  I'll check them in the morning thanks.

I see your AV is an 02, I would also inspect the backing plates behind the rotors on the rear. This is a common problem, mine sounded the same way. Good luck.

Good point. The backing plates will rust away and sometimes leave parts of it rubbing against the back side of the rotor. Check that first before you pull the rotor off.
