SHORTY ANTENNA MOD
enjoy eveybody i have done this mod to almost all my cars and to alot of my friends cars.. gives it a real clean look and still keep the reception..

if you decied to do this mod please use a glove! i had bad luck once and hot solder shot out and i had 3rd degree burns on my hand and wrist

would love to see it when its back up and running, lol. I was thinking of shaving my antenna, but using a shorty antenna to complete the mod without using wire ties as a permanent solution, :P I think the whole thing may cost $50 altogether, but will look awesome when its done. I will also, speaking of writeups, make sure to snap lots of photos when I screw the angle iron to my no 3 panel to correct the sagging. That same writeup will also provide instructions for mounting padlocks to even better secure the panels.

Question, however...Instructions were vague on how to properly install my factory integration adaptor for my chimes, which do not currently work, and I fear I will not pass inspection without them. Anyone know how this damn thing works? lol thank you!

Dunno what was going on with that. I think it was in the permission setting and I think I corrected that. I c/p'd the article into a new thread and made the needed changes to the link in the first thread here.

Umm not too sure if I know what exactly your talking about... I think I've heard of people flipping their antennas upside down and having them inside their fender... Is that what your getting at?

yes, theres a mod in which you take a 90 degree piece of metal, use the original bracketry on one side, and mount the antenna on the other. its kinda chinsy, seeing how the write up actually advises you to use wire ties as a permanent mounting solution, so it doesnt rattle around on the inside of the fender, though crippling frequency much more by doing so. so i thought a stubby antenna and an inverted mounting design from the original bracketry would neither rattle against the fender or get caught on the hood hinge.

Ahh gotcha now! Not too sure where to find something like that maybe check other car or truck forums....not so sure about the wire ties tho that's kinda a haggered way of installing things... My hid ballast for my head lights are zip tied to the bottom of the head light housing and it drives me nuts look at it every time I pop my hood... I think this weekend I'm gonna do a write up on how to install them and ill figure out a mounting point for them
