steering wheel housing
« on: July 11, 2011, 02:20:31 PM »
Hi everyone,  My g/f's brother and I installed my (new) head unit recently.  its an older model alpine, nothing fancy, but gets the job done :)  anyway, after we were done, i noticed my steering wheel starting to squeak.  upon further investigation, i saw that my steering wheel housing was not fully put back together.  ive tried to put it back together, but it seems i need to take the front of the dash off to get to it.  am i going about this right so far?  let me know, please and thank you!

Just pull the front bezel off and then you should have full access to the housing.

I removed the front of the dash, investigate a little further...

the area circled in red is the region in which lies a broken clip, a dishonest move by my g/f's brother whom, not only broke this, but also needs to help take the radio back out so we can find out why my chimes dont work (dont worry, i bought the $110 adaptor).

On top of it all, I think my parking brake doesnt work.  when my truck was in the on position but not started, with the parking brake supposedly on, gently shifted down to first gear, and the truck started moving (?)  WHY!?!

Any help would be hot, thank you!!

Sounds like you have the steering wheel issue taken care of other than a broken clip.

The brakes need addressed in another thread. :cheesy1:
