Thanks for starting this topic. The Main "cammer" One, at one time or another has smoked most of our butts.
well compared to my 06 5.3 crew cab stock yeah i agree seemed to shift real soon compared to the avalanche. then i went HPtune on the 06 and WOW real nice shifts it was tune mostly for 30 rolls so the shifts was like at 105 2nd to 3rd with 342 gears. on the 06 it was a best of 15.9 tuned, not impressed at all. i had my 08 5.3 single cab HPtunned wideband and u can realy tell the diffrence in the in the shifts points aswell. i guess ill have to wait and see what numbers the avalanche is going to make with the tune. @ Main One, what are ur mods and whats ur e/t
It's been a while since I've seen a 1/4 mile - last couple of times have been a 1/8.My best 1/4 was with my oldest daughter behind the wheel - my extra 100 pounds made a measurable difference. She did a 15.9. At the time my mods were rather modest if memory is correct: Hypertech tune with adjusted shift points, flowmaster 70 series muffler, K&N drop-in factory replacement filter, hole cut in the bottom of the stock airbox, synthetic oil, 55ix plugs, 50 ohm performance wires, I think that's about it. I may have had the shorty headers installed at that time but its been over 5 years. I may have had the 160 degree thermostat in then but again, it was a long time ago.Today I'm also running a cam, 0.551 lift, 216/224 duration @ 0.050, custom ram air intake, trailblazer higher stall converter, underdrive pulleys, an electric fan, injectors out of an 8.1 and my own HPTuners tune. When I did my last drag strip, (1/8), I was also running a transmission with a 2nd gear super-hold servo, but didn't have the injectors. I ran a 10.3 - KY Bob ran an 8.9 with the supercharger that is now in my garage, plus nitrous. For an engine with 231,000 miles, mine is still running pretty strong. At about 205,000 it busted the output shaft of my rebuilt transmission with a 3200 stall converter due in part to hitting 2nd too hard.Edit - by the way, the pic in my sig is at the 1/4 track where we ran the Beech Grove strip during a large gtg in Bowling Green, KY. I'm not sure who is behind the wheel in the pic at the starting line, but I took the picture of my daughter holding her time slip after one of her runs.
nice set-up. what CAI would you recomend what are the avais here using? im also thinking about a cam and stall. i was told that a ZO6 cam and a trailblaizer stall would be good for the truck. but im not sure, i guess a little cam is ok for a daily driver dont know if there would be any diffrence.oh and when is your supercharger going in?
We put a cam in another member's truck (I can remember his real name but not his online name at the moment - sorry Brian) back in the fall, and he's very happy with it when towing. His cam is a little smaller than mine.
