Dinner in the St. Louis area Tuesday May 24th, 2011
« on: May 08, 2011, 12:16:19 PM »
Hey all, Figured I'd start a new thread for this one as opposed to the Memorial Day weekend thread. As most of you know we'll be passing through again on the way to Ft. Sill for Heather's graduation on May 27th. St. Louis is the halfway point and figured we'll find a place to stay overnight there. Anyone interested in Dinner? We plan on leaving here early in the morning so we'll hit the area by mid afternoon. That should give us time to find a place to camp out overnight and freshen up before dinner. So who's in and where are we eating?

I'm planning to go. The wife says she won't know if she can go until that day since they have a system implementation and she may have to work.

As far as a place to go, I'm pretty easy but I'll throw out Texas Roadhouse. There's one in St. Charles next to Bass Pro and there's one here in O'Fallon. I'm sure there are more.

My daughter has a softball game at 6:00 and my son has a baseball game at 8:15. In regards to what we talked about yesterday you are welcome to stay the night with us but we probably won't be back home until 10:30-11:00 Tuesday night.

Ditto for me on all but the working swings thing.    It's the 4 hour drive there and the 4 hour drive back while trying to work 8 hours both Tuesday and Wednesday.    banghead1

Are you going to be coming thru around the Troy, Il area again or are you taking a different route? Bryce has t-ball practice that evening from 5:30 until about 7. I have to check the work schedule to see if I am working or not that day.

Pretty much the same route as last time. You're real close to I-270 so I can meet up with you again. My goal is out the door by 7am (EDT)  which should put us there about 2-3pm your time. I can even catch up with you at work if you're fairly close to the route. Joe said  RoadHouse in St. Charles so it looks like we'll catch the 270 loop. Worse case scenario I can leave it with Joe and you can meet up with him at another time.

Ok MBT. what's the address on this place and what time is good for everyone? We'll be there plenty early unless traffic is terrible so you and Richie figure out a time. Gonna meet up with John on the other side of the river to drop of a can of RR to him before we get to you guys.

I haven't looked up the address but you shouldn't have any trouble finding it. It's in the same parking lot with the Bass Pro Shop, right off I-70W. I'll try to get a time with Richie.

On I70, it's exit 229 5th street north.

They reconfigured the lanes over there so there are two left turn lanes into the shopping are right a the Mobil gas station.
Once you turn in, stay in the leftmost lane.
I think you go to the little stop sign, turn left and go straight to the restaurant.

Time for us is not critical.
I'm off work around 4:30 at the latest.
Normally it's 3:00PM, but we have a couple rush projects and are working the guys OT until they are complete.

Thanks guys. Just now googled it with the address provided and I think even I can find that one :cheesy1: I'm sure we'll be there early enough to wander around Bass Pro while you guys finish working. I'm not sure if we're going to find a place there for the night or head on down I-44 a bit until I get tired and then look for someplace to stay. We have to pick my mom up at OKC Wed afternoon so the closer we get to that, the later we can sleep Wed morning.

Mike, don't wander too far down I-44 before stopping.  With the tornado that devastated Joplin I'm sure the close to Joplin you get the harder it will be to find a hotel room.

In fact, as of this morning WB I-44 was closed at Joplin due to 10 or so semi's laying on their sides on the interstate.     Might be open by now but who knows.

Thanks for the heads up Chris. I'll do some looking into that for sure now.

Looks like it's far enough away that we won't make it that far Tues night. St. Roberts was a 12 hour drive for us and that would be pushing it after stopping for dinner. That's some serious damage out there. Hopefully by the time we get to that area, the highways will be cleared enough to make it though.

7PM it is. Anyone else in the are want to join us? It'd be a shame if the FH clan got their ball games rained out tomorrow. :cheesy1:

Yes it would brother but they can always be rescheduled for another day, I wouldn't get to see you two again until Bratfest. With the weather we are expected to have today I'm sure both games will be called off and I'll see you two tonight. I'll give you a call a little later to see how you are progressing. Be safe!

Well, we're sitting at the ball field waiting on the FH clan. Going to visit with them before dinner. Already got to hang out with Chevyfan for a bit today.  Can't wait for dinner. I'm hungry. :cheesy1:

I tried to upload last night but Tapatalk was being goofy. Had to get photobucket for the droid. Here the dinner crew from last night.

We had a great time visiting with everyone and can't wait to see everyone again in a few months at Bratfest.
Oh, MBT, nice "mod" to the CTS.

Count yourself lucky. Donnie may have gotten hit; Sedialia got it but I don't know how bad. There are multiple tornadoes in the St. Louis area right now. I haven't heard of any confirmed touchdowns but there are confirmed sightings. The wind is currently blowing in all directions and it's raining cats & dogs. There's hail all over also.
