Quick Bowtie change.....
« on: May 08, 2011, 06:34:50 AM »
Changed out the front Bowtie yesterday took about 15 mins.. Loosend the top 10 MM screws, Pulled the grill towards me pushed out the old which also had some Dbl stick tape holding it on  banghead1 But got it off with a little artex. Put the screw studs on the back of the new Bowtie put it in the factory holes then just put the nuts and washers on the back and done.. This Bowtie is from StreetScene. Now I gotta get the back tailgate done...

Depends on what you're looking for. I got my billet aluminum one off ebay for about $30 IIRC.

Paint it. Start with some light sanding to scuff it real good, then a few light coats of primer then paint, follow that with some wet sanding with 1000 grit. Clear coat it and buff/polish it with a mild compound.

I thought about that but it's chipped from a rock impact on the highway, so I prefer to get a new one.  Plus I'm a mod noob n wouldn't want to mess it up even though im really well with step by step instructions on anything.

If it's already chipped, then it's good practice. Can't make it any worse.

I ordered some from Unique (they were manufactured by T-Rex) and though nice, are complete replacements and will not show any Chrome frame.

Can anyone give me a link to someone who sells a replacement bowtie for the stock gold ones? I want black ones to fit within the chrome outer frame (or complete replacement, but I need the Chrome around the border as I have a black AV. 2012
