Painting front lower bumper cover
« on: April 21, 2011, 05:51:30 PM »
i got a 03 wbh avy and thinking it would look nice to paint the plastic peice that hangs from the chrome bumper and surrounds the foglights the same color as the rest of the truck. has anyone done this? if so what paint would you use? i figured since it's at the front of the truck and lowest to the ground that i want some kind of paint thats tough and won't chip and flake off from debris and what not.

I painted mine black several years ago, first time I went thru the carwash....they use power spray to get  the bugs, paint peeled right off, bought a new one from the dealer for a Silverado that was black for under a hundred bucks!

ps I hear Krylon fusion is the way to go though, I don't think I used that, lol

Another thing you could try is that roll on bed liner stuff. Just a thought.

Kinda past your bedtime isn't it Didit? Or, did you get a 3 day weekend?

if the krylon fusion worked on your cladding, then theoretically I can use it to paint the annoying cladded trim piece on the tailgate body color?  whats so special about the krylon fusion spray paint anyway?

I was thinking about painting my front lower bumper cover black to match the upper bumper cover, and then getting the pre-primed bumpers and painting them satin black...would that look sweet?

Thank you!

Jon

Oh boy, lol, how long has it been since I posted that?  Anyway, yes krylon fusion is very useful. in fact, later this year I will be disassembling the sail panel cladding and painting it all with satin black KF.  my girlfriend's brother seems to think that bed liner on all of the pieces would look great, but no one has ever done it on here that I know of and it seems like such a bad idea.

Thank you,
Jon
