Okay peeps, it's time for the Vermontville Syrup Festival Parade!!

Who:  Avalanche owner and riders
What:  Vermontville Syrup Festival Parade
Where:  Vermontville, MI
When:  April 30, 2011
Why:     You know why!!!!  It's an Avalanche Thing!!!!

Because Vermontville closes a lot of the streets during the festival I would like everyone to meet at 9am in the Charlotte Plaza then we can carAVan to Vermontville together.

I have made arraingments with my cousin again to park in her yard in town. Parking will be $5 an Avy.  We can get pancakes and walk around town for a little while and look at everything there is to see then at noon we will head over to the parade line up area.  The parade will start at 2pm.
We will be able to shine up the Avys in my cousins yard before heading over to the parade line up.
There is a car wash in Vermontville but it is closed during festival so if you need to wash up we can do that right in Charlotte.  There is a big car wash with like 12 hand washing bays and 2 automatic bays.

WE WILL BE USING FRS RADIOS (walkie talkies way back when) TO STAY IN COMMUNICATION WHILE TRAVELING BETWEEN PLACES. CHANNEL 3obb

Take the camper. Michigan is always a great time. We're hoping to make it but work is crazy at the moment.

U looking for a bed?
Right now it's depending on work. New schedule has me working Tues-Sat from 7am-3:30pm. I'm the only tech in our dept that works on Sat so the boss is a little leary of letting me take a vacation day. However, We will start a new 6 week schedule beginning that week so I could end up on another shift. Also, I'm still waiting to get placed in another department from our last surplus so the schedule could all be a moot point at the moment. I won't have a solid answer for at least another month.
It's about 4 1/2 hours for us to their place. Most of the time we stay at Hotel Bro when we go up but he's 1 1/2 hours from Kimmers and BigC's place. Makes it a little rough if we decide to stay later and party at their place. Small town area and the hotels are pretty cheap compared to the bigger cities we've stayed in. I've also had a generous offer from Kimmers about staying there but Twiggy snores really loud and I wouldn't want her keeping everyone awake all night.  :cheesy1:

I was just trying to keep up with you!  :ass1000:

For anyone interested in going, I've been to several Michigan GTG's and it's always a great time. This is the weekend after Easter so if you have school age children they may still be on Easter break. School may not be an issue if you're traveling any distance and would like to stay overnight.

Debbie and I are talking about maybe making the trip down that way. She just had surgery on her feet and should be anxious to get out of the house a bit more. It's a 20 hr drive for us but it looks like we have a few days off and may be looking for something to do. What kind of accomodations are around there. Would we be looking at booking something in Charlotte?? Not sure if this will work out or not, but we'll see.

you could stay in Charlotte. .....

what ususally happens .... we meet at 9 at the local listed above ..... then head to the parking spot .... chit chat some more .... before walking into town for breakfest ..... pancakes and sauage ..... then you can shop or head back to the vehicles and chit chat some more or clean up your vehicle before we head to the staging area for the parade .... then we wait some more ... 2 pm the parade starts ...we drive about 2 mph into town ... stop and go .... they mention who we are to all the people in the stands .... then we head back to the parking spot ..... chit chat some more .... some stay ... some leave ..... after that it is all up in the air ....

many of us have done this for a few year now and it really is a lot of fun .... we hope for sun and warm weather .....

you are more than welcome to join in on the fun! .....  :fast:

John
