ipod in an '03
« on: February 15, 2011, 06:44:47 PM »
just bought an 03 and would like to be able to use my ipod.
I have the Bose with 6 disc in dash changer and nothing else.
Question : is there an adapter to allow me to use my ipod with this setup?

Anywho, i found a link but i dont know how true or credible they are.

welcome to the site brotha glad to have ya!

i also  have a 2003 with the factory H/U.. here is a website that i highly recommend!
http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_28003_iSimple-ISGM575.html

this is a real simple plug n play system!.. only serious modifiction that you have to do is drill a 3/4 hole in your glove compartment for the cord that will connectto you ipod..

controls are easy! if you have the bose 6disc H/U then all you do after instalation is press the (aux/cd) button twice and you will have full control over your ipod (FWD RWD pause PLAY ext....) hope this helps...

not a problem its wat were here for!

its a real simple system too! i helped my buddy install this on his EXT and its a 2 beer job lol

had to take the radio and heating controls out... after that it was just pluging n tucking! lol now if you dont want to drill a hole in your glovebox for whatever reason the ive also seen them set the i pod in the upper compartmen of the dash. (2 spots above the cup holders) now youll still have to drill the 3/4 inch hold in the side for the cable but the kit comes with a really cool gromet that you can plug that hole up after drilling and instead of a 3/4 inch hole all you see is a gromet with a cord for your ipod! but we decided to put it in the glove compartment.... cant even tell its an i pod!!! looks like your working a cd!

Will this also keep the iPod charged while in use? I wonder how well it would work in mine with a factory nav unit. If it doesn't do what I want, I can always install in it Twiggy's '05 with the factory Bose system.

Edit note. It shows it replace the PAC Audio adapter. I wonder if that's just from that site selling product. I currently have a Pac adapter for my B/U camera. I'll be running out of room before long if I keep adding adapters.

yes it will! it runs off of the radios memory power wire (keeps the time and your presets from wiping out when you turn the truck off)

now we actually plugged in several ipods and they all worked and charged!

1 ipod shuffel
1 ipod touch
1 ipod nano

now im not too sure if the old click wheel will work but im almost positive it will!

I wonder if the iphone works too.   I imagine the iphone will pop that annoying message with 'this accessory is not compatible' with the iphone.

 2funny

i know exactly what you mean!!!!! its a tight fit but instead of tucking the box and the wires behind the radio we did it under the heating controls!!!!!! plenty of room if you tuck it into the passengers side and just becareful when you put the H/U back in and the heating control dont wanna pinch anything... but yea plenty of room under the heating controls!

Going to order one now. I better check a little deeper to see if it will think my iPhone is a normal iPod. The other thing I'm sure will work is passengers in the rear seat will be able to select that "channel" in the radio and listen to it back there through headphones so they can listed to their "music".  :uglystupid2:
