Bumping my own thread to see if there is anyone out there that tunes a FI vehicle and has experimented with high octane fuel.  Not thinking of anyone in particular  8)

I was thinking about adding 2deg across the board from about 3600rpm up if I decide to buy race gas at the track.  Sound reasonable?

I really have no idea how much timing I could get by with by running a mix of race gas.

2011 Silverado, Ext Cab Z-71 5.3, 6L80, Airaid CAI, Magnaflow cat-back, and a little tuning by me and HPT.

Ok, I'll bump.... add 2*... add 100 octane.. and launch... :thumb:

It goes without saying that you log that launch.....

Spraying a 35 or 50 shot does not requires any timing to be retarded in any form, so with that said, if you are not running timing at the ragged edge, and I don't believe you are, then try it.....

I personally know someone who has ran 27* timing up top on 12-13 psi of boost..... under controlled conditions, of course.... 8)

2004 Nekkid Z-71 with reduced aerodynamics, improved traction, and enhanced airflow........

Got the purge installed yesterday.  I didn't want to drill another hole in the dash so it's wired to a coil cord with a hand held push button that tucks neatly away in the ashtray.

You mentioned that to me.

It's a Cold Fusion wet kit.  I bought it direct from Cold Fusion so that I could get it customized for my application.  I did buy My window switch from Tbyrne.

I was really hoping that someone would put a N2O kit on a 1500 with a stock engine and bring it to MCM for the drag strip.  I would like to see real world numbers against another similar AV without nitrous.  It's not that much money for the amount of hp that you get.
Of course, if you use it everyday the nitrous bill would be expensive.

I'm running a small shot because of the blower.  A NA truck could spray a lot more. ;)

I almost bought it specificly for MCM since yall have blowers but the confusion of "wet & "dry" had me in limbo and now i cant even attend because of our short work force that is keeping me working weekends.

Theres always another MCM and i will be prepared :evil5:

Nitrous can make just as much power as a blower, probably more if the blower kit is installed without upgraded parts and a tune.

I don't see any confusion about wet and dry.  A wet kit injects gasoline and nitrous into the engine and a dry kit injects only nitrous and lets the computer add more fuel through the stock injectors.  There is nothing wrong with a dry shot as long as you not already pushing the limits of you MAF or injectors.  Larger shots of nitrous can be safely sprayed with a wet kit than a dry.  It just depends on what you have now and how much you want to get out of it.

Dry wasn't an option for me because my MAF is close to maxed out and I'm sure that nitrous flowing through it would push it beyond it's limit.  I also don't know if it would have been good to flow the nitrous through the Vortech.

For any of you that don't already know.  By the time that I get to MCM, I be spraying a little nitrous in addition to the supercharger.

I'm using a Cold Fusion wet kit, that they customized a little for me.  I can't say enough about the customer service guys willingness to work with me and build the kit that I wanted.

First, the majority of these kits are installed in F-bodies and Vettes and they come with a 15' feed line.  I knew that would be a stretch in a AV so they replace it with a 18' line.  I also needed a "T" adapter so I could continue to run my fuel pressure gauge.  The jets that normally come with the kit aren't very suitable for spraying it behind a supercharger.  I think that the kit normally comes with jets for 50,75, 100, and 150hp settings.  They swapped those out for 35,50,60, and 75hp jets for me.  They also threw in a plug for the N2O line so that I can seal it off when I don't want the bottle in my bed.

http://www.coldfusionnitrous.com/products.aspx

Here's a web pic of the basic kit:

I got started on the install yesterday.  I would say that I'm about 50% done.  I've made a mounting system that can be removed from the truck in under 1 minute to have the bed available for hauling stuff.  What I did was cut a 2"x6" the right width to slide into the vertical groves that are in the bed liner and screwed a flat piece of 3/4" MDF.  The bottle brackets are screwed to the MDF.  It's not the prettiest thing in the world but it serves the purpose.

In addition to having the bottle mounted, I got the feed line ran but not zip-tied yet, the injector nozzle installed, the solenoids mounted and all of the other lines except for the fuel rail to solenoid line.

I have discovered that the WOT switch is made for a F-body and our intakes are much taller.  I'm going to have to either fab a bracket from scratch or mount it in the cab and trigger it with the gas pedal.  Not sure yet.  I'm also leery of the "T" adapter that they sent me

There were some other differences in the AV and a F-body that caused me to make adjustment to the kit but nothing too bad.

I have also ordered a Window switch from Tbryne Motorsports, so I won't attempt any wiring till I get it.

do a lot of people do this on the avalanche?  and is it more for racing?

some folks install these for fun but if you tow heavy trailer,....a supercharger is recommended.
