Adding a shot of nitrous.
« on: April 12, 2007, 06:32:47 PM »
For any of you that don't already know.  By the time that I get to MCM, I be spraying a little nitrous in addition to the supercharger.

I'm using a Cold Fusion wet kit, that they customized a little for me.  I can't say enough about the customer service guys willingness to work with me and build the kit that I wanted.

First, the majority of these kits are installed in F-bodies and Vettes and they come with a 15' feed line.  I knew that would be a stretch in a AV so they replace it with a 18' line.  I also needed a "T" adapter so I could continue to run my fuel pressure gauge.  The jets that normally come with the kit aren't very suitable for spraying it behind a supercharger.  I think that the kit normally comes with jets for 50,75, 100, and 150hp settings.  They swapped those out for 35,50,60, and 75hp jets for me.  They also threw in a plug for the N2O line so that I can seal it off when I don't want the bottle in my bed.

Here's a web pic of the basic kit:

I got started on the install yesterday.  I would say that I'm about 50% done.  I've made a mounting system that can be removed from the truck in under 1 minute to have the bed available for hauling stuff.  What I did was cut a 2"x6" the right width to slide into the vertical groves that are in the bed liner and screwed a flat piece of 3/4" MDF.  The bottle brackets are screwed to the MDF.  It's not the prettiest thing in the world but it serves the purpose.

In addition to having the bottle mounted, I got the feed line ran but not zip-tied yet, the injector nozzle installed, the solenoids mounted and all of the other lines except for the fuel rail to solenoid line.

I have discovered that the WOT switch is made for a F-body and our intakes are much taller.  I'm going to have to either fab a bracket from scratch or mount it in the cab and trigger it with the gas pedal.  Not sure yet.  I'm also leery of the "T" adapter that they sent me

There were some other differences in the AV and a F-body that caused me to make adjustment to the kit but nothing too bad.

I have also ordered a Window switch from Tbryne Motorsports, so I won't attempt any wiring till I get it.

Got a little more done tonight.  Mechanically, it's pretty well finished other than the WOT switch but I haven't touched the wiring yet.

Here's a couple of pics:

They are links to CAFCNA. with the img tags around them.  I tried to upload and got an error that said that they were too large or to contact an Admin.  They were all under 100k  ???
