I'm at the shop with nothing to do. I may go home before it comes down. I'm watching the radar and I'm predicting the ice and snow to be here before noon.

It rained then froze as it landed until about 6am and then it turned to snow. The plows were out all night salting and plowing what looked like water. It didn't matter. The roads still sucked buck2 What should have been a 20 minute drive back to the office took 45 mins. Damn near an hour to get home instead of the usual 25 minutes. :blink1: Locks and cabinet doors froze. I went through 3-12oz cans of deicer tonight trying to get an underground vault open. More fun tonight. :idiot2:

9 different states have blizzard warnings right now, this storm has caused winter storm warnings and or blizzard warnings over a 2100 mile area.    We are supposed to get a foot of snow or so with 40mph winds.   Donnie in Sedalia could see as much as 30".

We had freezing rain yesterday afternoon and evening but it quit pretty early. It started freezing rain & sleet here about 5 this morning. It's currently changing between sleet and snow; we've got about 1/2" of mostly sleet on the ground right now. Blue, they are calling for you to have 15-20" of snow, the same as us, except no ice for you. I stayed home, along with most of the rest of our workforce. I'm not driving 28 miles to turn around and spend 4 or 5 hours driving home this evening. I can log in from home just like I'm at work.

Normally we dont do anything the same day.  We wait for power to take care of the power lines first before we even go to look at it.

Im staying home tomorrow on standby mode. :coolsmiley:

Have to say I was looking forward to bit more than we got.

All we got was about 1 1/2" sleet. :dunno:

I guess that generator is going back to Home Depot.

Well we've got 30 sites and the number is climbing without power right now. They're running on battery power for now. Too bad my pea brain boss wouldn't listen to us when we told him we can't legally pull our generator trailers with the low weight class stickers on our license plates. :uglystupid: Guess he'll have to answer to about 4 bosses above him in the morning. :verymad:

Well day number two of sitting at home twiddling my well you know, thumbs!  Got about an inch and a half of ice in the driveway, had to kick at the garage door this morning to get it to open, managed to take Lu to work yesterday and today so she gets a flower in her cap.  After getting on the main roads so to say, it really wasn't that bad, the parking lots and side streets are horrendous though.  Tonight though its supposed to get down to 4 above, brrrrr.   With the wind and the underlying ice our company said no way, not worth the risk of going out, we have one truck puttering around town thats it.  Taking Lu to work this morning I got on 70 and wow the wind played havoc with the AV so I can imagine my nerves with the 18 wheeler.   Stayin warm and hope to God the power doesn't go out.

That looks like mine. So are you going to power-drive the Av out of the driveway and go have some fun?

No problems here.  Worked all day yesterday and drove home in the peak of the blizzard and the AV performed well   12" of snow in K.C.  Got to work no problems this morning.  Traffic was very minimal going home yesterday and driving to work today.  I guess it helped out most people have stayed home the last 24 hours.  Got a kick out of the local news crews sensationalism of the event and scaring the hell out of everyone....

Same thing on this end of the state. Granted, it could have been really bad, and I wouldn't want to be driving around on secondary roads in a car, but I wouldn't worry about going anywhere in the Av. And it's only got M&S-rated street tires (Hankook Ventus RH06, definitely just an on-road tire, with no lugs at all) on it.

Well, our power went out about 2am and it isn't looking like we'll have it back before tomorrow. Took Twiggy to work as I didn't want her driving one handed (the other one is in a soft cast due to torn ligaments in a finger). Main roads around here are I'm great shape for now but we'll see how long that last. I'm shutting off my phone to conserve battery power. Y'all behave now. :cheesy1:

Went out playing this morning. Pulled a Tahoe out of his driveway, gave a guy who was walking a ride and jumped another in an intersection. We ended up with over 20".

I was really looking forward to the predictions of 9-20" of snow but no luck.   banghead1The kids were off school yesterday so I had to go pick them up, shoveled the sleet off the driveway twice.  I think we ended up with about 3-3.5" of sleet and possibly 2 or so inches of snow last night, the wind is crazy.

Yeah, I'm pretty disappointed too.
My sister, up in Chicago, got about 24" and there are drifts in her yard about 4 1/2 feet tall.
My brother works for a Nursery in Phoenix, AZ and they were getting high winds blowing over huge palm trees.

Warrensburg got 21", took me seven hours to get out of my subdivision.  I live just outside of the city limits and we don't get a plow truck.....ever...  But there is good news!  The Av was the first vehicle to make it out of a driveway, up the road and around the subdivision and finally out to the highway.  It took some time and a lot of patience but I managed to cut ruts for everyone else, pull a Ford out of a ditch on the highway and help a Dodge get up the hill in the subdivision.  I also got through where the plow truck (Ford) couldn't.  If I can get the pic to load..he's stuck.  Overall it was a good day.
Lead, follow or just get out of my way.

Today it was in the 70's, but a bit windy.

What ski resorts?  I've only been once this season.  Went to El Paso and drove up to Taos for a couple of days with family.  That's why I have mod money this winter.  We're still looking for a end of season deal.

we just had well over a foot of snow melt last week, you should see it now !

I'll try and shoot some photos when I get out to snowblow before work, it's easily up to my rims and drifted up to my hubs. Lake effect snow is tricky, we usually get some off Lake Michigan on the other side of the state and sometimes off Lake Huron/Saginaw Bay

This snow is coming from Illinois, Indiana ENE wind so no real lake effect in MI but Windsor might get some lake effect

ABC News at noon said 7" but we got a foot in Flint easy, it's deeper than the top of my MTD YardMachine. My snowblower just turned 10 or 11, I got it for my 40th birthday. It's just a 'lil 3hp 21" u-push but beats the snot out of shoveling. My fingers and toes are numb and I'm over half done, burned a tank of gas and filled her up for round two.

Maybe tomorrow, I still have to work 10-11 hrs tonight.

We normally don't get the lake effect snow on this side of Lake St. Clair. We were looking at the accumulation for the area and we got nailed harder than the big storm that came through at the end of Jan. Some of the other areas around us just got a few inches. Usually we are the ones getting disappointed because the storms tend to pass just above us or just below us.

Ok, Level 2 emergency in some spots. Level 3 in others. Level 3 means only essential personnel out and about. Damn the luck. After 9/11/01 all Telco employees are part of the Civil Defense network. No calling off work tonight  banghead1

Roads were treacherous last night, this morning as it dropped to single digits and road salt quits working. You can barely tell plows made one quick pass down my street.

I was hoping work would get called off but that was stupid, we had to make up the snowday Friday after the last storm. We get every third Fri off, I'd rather get my 44 hrs in 4 consecutive days and have a long weekend, since I have to work 5/10s next two weeks

Well that was not a fun night. We got dumped on AGAIN  banghead1

Then I come home and find out that my stepson that still lives at home didn't bother to shovel the 15ft path to the garage for Twiggy after he got home from work this morning. He works at McDonalds. It's not like it's a demanding factory job. Well, I guess you can say he'll be using a shovel later today before he goes to work tonight.
Any teenagers in here? Word of advice. "Don't ever tick off your dad when he has the keys to the snowblower :tickedoff:  :verymad:

LOL, I bet :coolsmiley:

Well, he recruited about 3 buddies and dug it out, kinda , They neglected to take care of the end of the drive where the plows  did their thing. :idiot2: I even pointed it out to him. He goes to leave for work and promptly gets stuck. He calls me from his cell phone telling me I need to come and pull him out.  I said  :hah:  I go out to look at it and he's high and dry. I asked him what he did with the shovel and he told me he got  :verymad: and threw it in the middle of the front yard. I told him he better go get it and start digging :cheesy1:  He was about 10 minutes late to work.  :ass848: Someday he'll learn.  :winkani:

Rain/snow mix overnight, glad I stayed close to home because it sounds like people have been playing bumper cars all weekend in the Flint/Saginaw area.

My power came back on at 8:00AM just as my coffee was perking in the fireplace.  :victory:

I-69 was closed due to multiple accidents, no injuries reported

Stormed like hell here. Wash away most of the snow and all of the salt on the roads. I can't wait for riding season :dans2:

We got the rain too with a light and sound show. Still have some snow on the ground..... Getting anxious for the warm weather so I clean the inside of the Av and scrape the salt out, put on the other rims and tires, put the vent visors on.....oh yeah and the CAC club sticker :winkani:

We have a foot of snow on the ground easy, most sidestreets have a mix of hardpack snow and standing water with temps hovering near freezing dropping to 11 so looks like more icy roads and wrecks mornings all week.

Can you say "potholes" ? They are only going to get worse, we're in a wicked freeze/thaw cycle and not much the road crews can do about it yet. My 275/16 BFGs are up to it.

Sure there is.......Keep them filled with snow and ice until they can fix them. Tjat's the only good thing about winter. The potholes get filled in

Light snow can hide a large pothole, I put a slight ding in a rim, flattened a tire and broke a shock on my '94 S10 pickup once. Barely felt the bump, the snow was so deep I didn't know the tire was flat until next morning. It aired up but broke a steel belt, sidewall bulge.

Most people slow down at RR track crossings in MI too, do that in other areas of the country you might get rear-ended. I usually rumble right over the tracks but try to hit the most even area.

You have your tires on the ground when you go over tracks?
