At least you have someone who can help you learn, albiet from long distance.

It's a steep learning curve; I feel like I can tweak a few basic parameters but I'm always amazed with how much knowledge some individual tuners have of the software and how to tweak many different parameters. I would love to take the tuning class to really learn the ropes or to have someone local who could spend several hours with me to actually show me (demonstrate) the ropes. I typically learn better by observing and doing than by trying to read and apply.

Alaska, I'm sure you will be able to do pretty well with it.  You don't seem to get very intimidated by projects that a lot of the rest of us wouldn't want to touch.  It really isn't that bad, you just can't be afraid of it.  I'll try to help if you have any questions.

18x10 Forged Weld Wheels, BFG g-Force KDWs, JBA shorties, custom catback with FM70, Crane plug wires, Trailblazer Torque Converter, bigger cam, efans, HP Tuners custom tune, WAAG stuff, mildly boosted with Vortech Supercharger.......

Have fun. Just take your time, do a lot of reading, and make small incremental changes. It takes longer to get where you're going that way but you're way less likely to get yourself in trouble.

I brought the truck to work today; it's the first time I've driven it since I made a few tweaks to the timing table about a month ago. I get a big, sh!t eating grin every time I get in it! It's 20* this morning and this thing runs like a scalded pig. I may actually go more than half throttle tonight on the way home from work just to make sure it still works with the throttle that far down.  :uglystupid2:

What software version are you guys using?  2.22?  Anyone got the beta version of 2.23 yet?  I just emailed HPT and ask for it.

2.22 won't read the 2011's.

I spoke to Allen Nelson and he said the 2.23 beta version is fine and he has tuned several 2011's with it.

2011 Silverado, Ext Cab Z-71 5.3, 6L80, Airaid CAI, Magnaflow cat-back, and a little tuning by me and HPT.

Gone but not forgotten, 2002 Victory red. The quickest lifted 4x4 AV in the US in it's day.

How did you get it?  Did they email it to you or send you a link to download it.  I emailed them today asking for it.  I know it's still in the beta testing but if it's good enough for Allen, it's good enough for me.

I wonder if you could email the file to me :dunno:

PM replied to and still waiting on HPT to send it to me.  Supposedly, they will give it to anyone that ask because they want us to find any problems with it but they make no guarantees to anyone.  From what I hear, it's flawless, at least on the GM Gen 4 if you have the right drivers for it to open.

I'm running it with Vista, which was problematic to get started initially. I tried all of the fixes and the only way I can use HPT is to hit F8 and disable signature enforcement. The only issue I've had is that I occasionally get an error when I try to flash a new tune. It tells me the interface is not found. Sometimes it works if I disconnect the USB cable and reconnect it and sometimes I have to shut HPT down, restart it, and try again. It's never failed to work with one of these two options.

My laptop is also on Vista.  I'll try the "F8" thing.  I keep getting "interface not found".  I worked on it half of the night last night and still haven't got it to connect.  I read on HPT forum that I needed to up date some drivers.  Maybe I'll get it figured out tonight.  If I can't get it working, I may try loading it on my old computer which is as slow as molasses.

You will still have to follow the directions and load the new drivers. Once you do that, you just have to restart your computer, start repeatedly hitting F8 until a screen comes up with a list of choices, one of which is to disable signature enforcement, select that, and then it should work.

Just a word of caution here - restart the computer immediately after you are done scanning or flashing. If you don't and you access the Internet without signature enforcement you can get yourself in trouble with viruses/etc. very quickly.

Thanks, I'll give that a shot tonight.

I'm pretty sure the old laptop crashed tonight, still messing with it.  I have HPT 2.23 loaded on this one but can't get it to see the interface.   banghead1

I think my  :ass1000: has been kicked.   I'll give a try again later.  I need a beer, some dinner, and some sleep.  I messed with this until 2:30am last night.

Until I see something I like about an upgrade, I'm usually not to keen on changing because of situations like this.

18x10 Forged Weld Wheels, BFG g-Force KDWs, JBA shorties, custom catback with FM70, Crane plug wires, Trailblazer Torque Converter, bigger cam, efans, HP Tuners custom tune, WAAG stuff, mildly boosted with Vortech Supercharger.......

I got the old laptop back to life.  It was just locked by something, probably a virus.  I was able to read and save entire tune from the '11 Silvy with it this morning.   :dans2:

I brought it to work with me today.  If I have some slow time, I'll look the tune over.  I also may try to clean everything out of that computer that isnt tuning related and make it dedicated to tuning.  Hopefully I can get it running faster be cleaning it up.

...still no luck with the newer laptop but I haven't given up.

Update:  I found the program that was bogging down the old laptop and got it off there.  She's moving along pretty good now.  I may not even mess with the newer one.
