Need help with tire size for new rims......
« on: January 23, 2011, 09:46:50 PM »
hey guys i got an 03 chevy avalanche z71 WBH and im going to be getting a new set of rims and tires soon. the rims im going with are the dick cepeks 17x9  with 4.5" backspacing -12mm offset. now i know these are going to stick out a wee bit more then my factory 17" but what size tire should i got with??? im thinking mabye a 275/70/17? i would like a 285 but that would probrably rub. anybody have these rims? or know what size tire will work? also my avalanche is stock height still but do plan on putting in some lift keys in the future.

here what the rims look like:

I think once you put the keys in it you should be able to fit 285's with no problem. I think that's what Fowlhunter is running on his with a set of keys in it.

I have 17x8's with 4.5" back spacing running 265/70/17's at stock height and they don't rub but they are very, very close. (less than a 1/2")  You will save money, time, and headaches doing it right the first time around unless you are willing to cut something.
Bought 04 Summit White 1500 4X4 summer of 08. Mods 17X8 Black Rock Wheels, Stainless Fender Trim, Hood  Deflector, Custom 1/4 Panel Emblems, Black Billet Bowtie, Amber DRL's, 800W power inverter for portable PS3 & 13" TV, Recon Big Rig Ice LED light bars, Renegade roof light bar.
