Anyone interested in a midwest race weekend?
« on: September 22, 2006, 10:03:47 PM »
Something like a SEMO or southern IL location?

It's a good central location.  Maybe one day of bracket racing and one day of heads up racing.  There have been 2 large GTG that have had drag racing as a part of them but how about one that's centered around racing.  I think it would draw the gear heads out but also a lot of people that just want to watch and hang out.

I think there is a 1/4mile track in Sikeston MO but I'm just throwing that out.

What do you all think?

2011 Silverado, Ext Cab Z-71 5.3, 6L80, Airaid CAI, Magnaflow cat-back, and a little tuning by me and HPT.

Gone but not forgotten, 2002 Victory red. The quickest lifted 4x4 AV in the US in it's day.

Well with your supercharger, 4.56 gears and who know what else, of course you would want to race........ :needhug:

Actually Butch, my thought was if we were to do a 2 day race weekend, how about a heads up day and a bracket racing day.  With no more vehicles than we would have it would only be 2 or 3 hours a day.  If it were done fairly early, the track could do it before their regular race program.

(Again, just my thoughts) How about day one being heads up.  Before we get to the track, everyone draws a # and the bracket is set up.  if the 2 fastest there draw each other in the first round, one of them goes home.  It's heads up, reaction time is a big factor, not like in the past where the trophy just went to the quickest et regardless of reaction.

Day 2: Pure bracket racing.  The slowest truck there has just as good if not a better chance of winning as the fastest.  Racing from a dial-in is a pure drivers game.  You have to know your vehicle and cut great lights to win but things like traction problems and heat soak into a supercharged engine, IMO, make it more difficult.

Like I said, I'm just throwing out ideas.

Ok so this thread is old.

Hey Bob!   Lately ive been working out of town and on my way home i always see the exit to Gateway Race Ways on 255 north.  Today while shopping for gauges this fella walked in the store with an empty bottle of NOS for refill.

I asked: "wheres the race"?   He said: tonight at Gateway wink2   He said they race several nights a week open to public.

Anywho.....i looked it up and i found it.

I'd love to do it but I'd really like to get my tranny mods done first. I'm afraid to really romp on it without at least getting the shift kit and servos installed. And if I was at the track I wouldn't be able to stay out of it!  :P

It's going to be tough for me to fit anything into my schedule for the next month since I'm getting ready for my elk hunt.

Self-tuned with HP Tuners software.

I'm probably not going to be able to make a race weekend this year.  I'm considering doing a couple of engine mods  :-X if I can afford it and don't want to spend all of my mod money on a trip.

That said, I ran across a deal too good to pass up yesterday on a motorhome and bought it, so not only am I broke, I'm in the hole.  :'(
