Uh-oh. Sounds like the one that was bad in my wife's avy.  Have you tried it when the truck is warm inside. Sometimes you can get errors due to the cold and condensation, especially if that unit sat around in a garage. Make sure it's good and warm inside the truck and give it another shot. The owners manual has a troubleshooting menu for the cd changer also. I don't remember everything it says about it so you may want to give it a quick look.

hmm... it was sitting outside in a tahoe that had been totaled for at least 5 months...so im guessing it was exposed to the elements for 5+ months... as far as heating up.... i drove 12 miles to my girlfriends parnets house with the heat full blast... im going to run out side and look into the owners manual.

Did the little light on the right side of the cd slot turn green? If so, then it was waiting for a disc.

Here's a link to the 04 owners manual. It should be the same as the 03.
http://www.chevyavalancheclub.com/resources/owners%20manual/2004.php

once the PDF opens, type 251 in the page number box and it will go straight to that page with the instructions for loading a 6disc cd player. There are two different methods of loading depending on if you want to load only one or multiple discs.

I've looked at those but can't seem to find the one for a Nav unit. Touch screen controls would be nice.

I think it's an 05 but I'm not 100% sure. I would like to find one that would work for my iPhone so I could tie into the On* system.
