Poweraid Throttle Body Spacer install questions
« on: April 05, 2007, 01:52:20 PM »
I've been looking into these for some time, from what I understand it connects from the air intake, my issue is that I have a volant air intake and I'm not kidding when I say that it touches the guard on the radiator fan.  I'll post a pic in a bit.  I would like the throttle body but if it pushes the intake out 1/2" I'm afraid of it pushing into the fan housing...

Options?  thatought about the electralite fans and that'd give me a few more inches to spare right...  Hmmmmmmm...  :dunno:

I had one on my truck when it was stock and had to notch the stock fan shroud for clearance. I don't think it would work very well if at all for your application. The Flex-A-Lite or other electric fans would provide plenty of clearance for this mod. My opinion: unless you are getting it very cheap (FREE or $10), don't waste your money. I could tell a very little bit of difference in mid-range throttle response but you will be better off spending your mod money elsewhere. I haven't been able to locate my old one since I installed the Magnacharger or I'd let you have it.
2002 LPM Z71, factory 4.10s - Magnacharger w/3" pulley, TOG's headers, 216/224-.551/.551-115 cam/pushrods/dual springs/titanium retainers, built tranny, Yank TT2600 stall converter, 24K GVW Tru-Cool tranny cooler,  Flex-A-Lites, ProCold intake, MSD wires & TR6 plugs, 20" Panther Juice 6's, 2.8" rear lowering springs & assorted hardware, J&J Enterprises stainless grille, body-color painted taillight covers. Self-tuned with HP Tuners software.

Cracked rear bumper cover from a run-in with a deer in fall 2008!

If you have any aftermarket intakes, the spacer will make your intake to rub, touch, collide with the fan shroud. You can always cut the shroud but chances are you need to notch the fan also but it may unbalance the fan and go outta whack.

Want that extra pony? get a bigger throttle body instead of a spacer.

I picked up a BBK throttle body  for under $400 last fall but it failed the install when attempting to swap guts from the stocker to the BBK since my stocker is electronic. 2002's use cable and easier to work with.

i ordered a poweraid throttle body spacer today from autozone(went in for a fan belt and came out with a throttle body spacer and chrome wheel polish). i hope i excellent results and it not be a waste of $150. i probibly should have looked around here first  angry.  a friend of mine reccomended it he bought one for his 8.1L and said it made a big difference so i guess we'll see.

Hmmm...maybe the difference is the size.  8.1 there may be some improvement but not much or none on a 5.3

Damn I glad i read this. was thinking about one. What doesn't make sense to me about it is the fact that  the spacer mixes the air AFTER the throttle body not b4 it. I would think that the air being swirled into a vortex b4 the throttle body would make it more efficient. Just my 2cts.

WHERE IT REALLY IS ABOUT THE FRIENDS AND AVY'S, AND NOT THE ALMIGHTY ADVERTISING DOLLAR!
