Info on leveling my 02 AVY Z71
« on: January 03, 2011, 08:44:04 PM »
I would like to lift my Avy 2.5" in the front and 1" rear.  I would like to put 33" tires on along with new shocks.  I was looking at the readylift SSt kit.  Any info on kits and shocks would be appreciated. Also how hard are the kits to install ?

I cheated and went with a 3" body lift and new torsion keys up front to level mine to fit 33's under it. I kept the stock shocks though. We've got a member here that has 33's without a lift. I think he just cranked his keys up though. Maybe he'll chime in here.

Looks like just 2" keys up front for now. He doesn't have a lift on it yet. That may be the cheapest/easiest way to do it.

I also have an 02, I went with the F@*d keys up front, 1-1/2" coil spring spacers in the rear and longer KYB shocks at the corners.  The front of mine is cranked about 2-1/4 to 2-1/2" and I am currently running LT285's.  I would go with the F@*d keys, I think when I purchased mine I paid about $65 for the pair?  Good luck and keep us posted.

Furd quoted me $65 EACH :verymad: That's why I took my business to Summit for my keys.

Next weekend I am going to put keys, spacers and shocks on another member's AV.  I think I'll do a write up with pics and help out other folks with questions on the installation.

Very nice, look at you stepping up!!   :yourock:

I installed keys, rear lift blocks and new shocks on a buddy's Silverado a while back and he loves it.

Yep! Keys are the easiest. I didn't install them, the previous owner had them installed but they are easy to do your self if you want. Just make sure the front end is lifted off the ground where there is no weight on the suspension. Locate the stock keys which are in a cross member right after the transfer case IIRC, remove the adjusting bolts, slowly, pull the old keys off the bars, put the new ones on, tighten the bolts. It may take a few times getting the level you want it sitting at then most importantly, take it to the alignment shop after your done.

My 33"s fit great but theres required trimming of splash guards up front and back to prevent rubbing. Btw, these are 2" keys on my Avy, with some more index left in them if I wanted to lift it a little higher.
