Custom wheels and tires
« on: January 01, 2011, 10:34:01 PM »
Hi. Going to install Verde Avatar wheels on my 08 LTZ. Not sure to go with 20 or 22 inch rims. Can I swing 305 45 tires? Comments would be welcomed

I run 285/50/20 on mine and love it.  I know folks who run 305/45/22. It also depends on tire brands. It has something to do with the thread pattern. It tends to make the steering stiffer and at times throw you off.

How Stiff  Of a ride do you want?  Do you have snow up your way? The bigger the rim the harder to stop and longer. It is more weight towards the outside of the rim. The bigger rim and smaller sidewall of tire will give you a better handleing and a rougher ride.

I've had both 20's and 22's on my rides and with all the driving I do I stay with 20's.. And they come off for the winter..
I also upgraded my brakes with both sets of rims for better stopping power. I went with a Short Stop system from SSBC..

Good Luck with what you go with and Post pics when you get them...... :cheesy1:

Hey, thanks for the words. Love the ride with the OEM bridgestones on the 20 s don't want that to change. Now that you mention it i have driven a vehicle with wide crack grabber tires.... Not fun here in Michigan, all we have are cracks and holes lol. Are the 285 50 tires the same height as the OE 275 55?
