Topic: Rear recovery hooks

I have probably used them more for towing than recovery. They can be really handy and work great when rigging a double line pull. I added two recovery hooks to the back. One on each side of the receiver hitch.



Towing a friends Tahoe last week reminded me that I had forgot to add those.

Way cool!  I removed my tow package a couple years ago.  I dont recall seeing holes on it.  Did you drilled them?

Yes. The bolts thread into a 3/8" plate which helps to reinforce the mounting.

Range Rovers are usually pretty capable. Nice to see a friendly US rig helping out a Brit

I like this and want to install on my 03 , are these the same as on the front or where did you get the hooks ?

Those are first generation s-series hooks.
They seemed to fit better than some others I considered. The twist they have works out just right.

As in S10 series truck front tow hooks. That was his truck previous to the Av.

im going to do this mod to my truck as well, in addition to cleaning up the entire trailer hitch.  i saw something though that i just flat out said "wrong".  On LMC truck, i can buy brand new 1st generation s10 tow hooks, 60 a piece and then like 5 bucks for hardware, OR i can buy chrome aftermarket hooks from the same place, they will fit all gen s10's, rated for up to 10,000 pounds, includes hardware (which probably will not be necessary), for 10 bucks a piece.  Ill just scuff them, hit them with some etching primer, and truck bedliner, along with the rest of the hitch, and reassemble.  i will definitely post pics when im done...thanks

might i ask, what were the dimensions, and/or overall shape of this 3/8" thick plate?  If im going to do this, I want to do it the right way, and give the setup more stability.  Let me know, please and thank you!

It comes with the hooks. It is the OEM method of attachment for the hooks for all the S-series and earlier fullsize. Each hook should come with the plate and two bolts.

I have yet to do this.  I think I might just scuff the hell out of, or even sandblast, my OEM hitch, buy some s10 hooks, install, and bed line the whole thing.  The downside is I thought this would be a great modification to any vehicle with a trailer hitch.  lets just say i was wrong, lol.  I am soo looking forward to doing this.
