If they are just bulbs then they are just a different color than the OEM bulbs, which are around 4300* k temperature color. They will give off a definite blue color; they will not put out as much light as the stock bulbs unless they are also higher wattage.

I recently switched to true HID lights for my low beams, after running modified 100W high-beam bulbs for a few years. The HIDs, which are 35W, make the light output of the 100W bulbs look anemic. You would be much better advised to go with real HIDs, which you can buy for around $35. Of course you could always try the 8500* k bulbs and remove them if you don't like them; it will only cost a little time to swap them out.

I think my HID's are like 10000K. They are amaizing, but cost about 150 if you install them yourself. They have the ballasts and all the harness components included. They are simple to install, but remember to flip the plug and tape it with some electrical tape to keep it dry and secure if you use them. They give the cleanest light you could imagine and it's white not yellow like stock or blue like knock off or cheap HID's such as ZENON's. Prepare to be courtesy bright flashed by every single on coming vehicle on the road too!

Here's a link to a slim set I've purchased to put in my Cadillac CTS; they haven't been installed yet so I can't give you any feedback on how good they are (I have to take the whole front bumper cover off; it's cold so I"ll wait until it's warmer, plus the CTS is my daily driver). However, I can say that pretty much all the cheap HID sets come from China these days; the set I've got in the Avalanche came from Japan but they were purchased in 2005 for my Corvette. Look around for what he has for sale. He had a "make an offer" listing and will sell for $37 including shipping for the set. That's pretty cheap for a slim set.

They are 35W; if you want more light output you can purchase 55W sets that put out about 40% more light than the 35W sets. I've got a 55W set in my fogs and they are BRIGHT. You really don't need them as the 35W puts plenty of light out.
