I wouldn't do it in mine. I'm pretty sure they'd melt the housings.
If you want to see how hot HID bulbs really get with 35 and 55 Watt Ballasts...Here is a comparison thread thats currently a WIP, which is measuring all HID bulbs, ranging from OEM, Korean, and to the 2 most common re-branded Chinese HID bulbsYou have to register to see the pictures of the bulbs, but the link to the spreadsheet is in the top of the post: http://www.hidplanet.com/forums/showthread.php?36443-H1-Bulb-Operating-Temperature-(and-other-properties)-ComparisonThese are all H1 Bulbs, because there was a problem with some bulbs from DDM bulbs melting stuff, so users tried to identify the source of why things were melting. It turns out, that it wasnt the bulbs doing it.
I ran 80w in the lows and 100's in the highs (Halogen). The 100's were fine as long as you didn't run them for a long time. The lows melted my housings a little. I was running 35w HIDs, I think. More than enough light. Lows were 6000Fogs were 3000
yea the problem is i run my highs about 70% of the time..i live in the country and i leave home early enough that its still dark and when i get off work its dark
I would go no higher than 55 w on your HIDs. The 6000's (shown above) are a great white light. I went with 3000's on the fogs to give the yellow cast.
