PIONEER SHAKES IT UP WITH NEW PRO SERIES SUBWOOFERS

Rocking out to music in the car is never complete without good sounding bass from a subwoofer. Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc. is making it easier for consumers to get the best sounding bass possible with a new line of subwoofers introduced at the International Consumer Electronics Show. Available in 12- and 10-inch versions, the PRO series subwoofers, TS-W3001D4/2 and TS-W2501D4/2, are the most advanced subwoofers Pioneer Electronics has ever developed featuring technologies such as the exclusive Air Suspension system that allows them to be installed in extremely small enclosures.

"We're implementing new technologies into the PRO subwoofers that were developed based on what we've learned through our participation in SPL sound competitions," said Larry Rougas, vice president of marketing and product planning for the mobile entertainment division of Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc. "These subs have the ability to deliver extremely low and accurate bass without the need for large enclosures. From rock to rap, they'll supply the sound that's missing."

The "Air Suspension" technology in the PRS subwoofers replaced the conventional spider found in the construction of most subwoofers and speakers. The technique eliminated the spider altogether and replaced it with a second cone that traps or sandwiches air between the front and secondary cone. The technology decreases the enclosure size requirement by 70 percent. In approximately half the space needed for conventional drivers of the same size, Pioneer's subwoofers obtain similar output levels with higher sound quality.

Other technologies in the PRO series subwoofers include:
__Composite IMPP Cone Using Interlaced Carbon Fiber__This material forms an extremely strong and rigid but very light cone needed for low and accurate bass response.
__Wide-Roll, 3-Layer Fiber Woven Radial Surround with Honeycomb Cloth- Honeycomb-pattern reinforcing cotton cloth sandwiched between a wide-roll, dual-layer urethane resists surround puckering at large excursions, resulting in louder, more controlled bass response.
__Integrated Single Sided Silver Binding Posts__High quality binding posts (terminals) are located on one side for greater installation flexibility

Pioneer's Electronics Mobile Entertainment Division is known for offering the kind of in-car products that make driving more enjoyable by offering high quality audio and video, advanced connectivity and ease-of-use. Its focus is on the development of new digital technologies including audio video, navigation and satellite radio, while maintaining its strong heritage in products for car audio enthusiasts and sound competitors. The company markets its products under the Pioneer and Premier brand names. When purchased from an authorized dealer, consumers receive a limited warranty for one year with Pioneer products and two years for Premier electronic products.

Nice, they don't require much airspace for high end subs.

2011 Silverado, Ext Cab Z-71 5.3, 6L80, Airaid CAI, Magnaflow cat-back, and a little tuning by me and HPT.

Gone but not forgotten, 2002 Victory red. The quickest lifted 4x4 AV in the US in it's day.

I'm trying to save up for a audio system for the Impala and I'm going to try to hide most of it if possible.

I think 6x9 Pioneers should do it.

Let me know when you decide to do it. A couple guys and myself have done several "old school" cars. 65 Fairlane, 70 Chevelle, etc. It can all be hidden and made to look stock, or at least VERY clean. I can put you in touch with a guy that does AWESOME work.

I'm thinking of building a sub box with amp and installing it where the spare would have gone.
