Component speaker help
« on: October 23, 2010, 03:59:56 PM »
Hows it going everyone?

I'm looking to do a full sound system in my avy. i called crutchfield and they told me that a component system will require modification to make the tweeters fit. Anyone here have a set that didnt require anything just went right in?

Or does anyone have any recommendations on what to go with?

I've only read what others have done but I've seen some killer systems in these trucks.

Are you looking to add subs too? Midgate box or under seat if so?

Does you Avy have the Bose system in it now?

WHERE IT REALLY IS ABOUT THE FRIENDS AND AVY'S, AND NOT THE ALMIGHTY ADVERTISING DOLLAR!

We need info...  Year of Av and an idea of what you like?  Do you want Sound Quality or Bass..?

Speakers to look for are JL Audio,Focal,Higher end Alpine and Higher end Kenwood. Boston also has a nice clean sound..  I would stay away from Speakers by Pioneer  Infinty, :anono1: and JBL.. Unless you like ear bleeds and No Mid bass..

Let us know more info and we can help you out better..
08 Z71 Avalanche Mods to date: K&N CAI,Hellwig Swaybars and End Link, Corsa Sport Exhaust, Superchips Programer,IPCW LOF & 3rd brake light,AMI Gas door,Show Hooks and Door locks, Enkei Wheels, with Pirelli tires, StreetScene Bowties, Grant Steering wheel,Muth signal mirrors,SSBC Big Brake kit,Huskyliner Mug gards,Floor mats and Hood shield,McGard Lug nuts and locks,Bedrug, Cervini's Ram Air hood,35watt HID Fog lights,WhiteNight Back up lights,Sirius and HD Radio,Mods to come IPCW Tail lights.SnugTop painted and ready for install, PerryCraft Rack system with Kayak and Bike Holder, Custom MGP Caliper Covers, and Tempress Boat Hatches....

yes i have the bose  now, aftermarket navi/radio.
i want it under the seat since i still want my tailgate to be usable. i would like 2 but seems like there would be no room for the amps. so im leaning towards just one and then putting the amps under the other side.

more sound quality than bass. but i still want some bass... i wanna add a sub or 2 and replace all factory speakers.  i would like to do components but crutchfield told me with the tweeters i would have to modify the pillar. do you guys know how extensive it would be? here is a list of what crutchfield put together for me.

I would take the JL's over the Polk any day...You can do the new 5Ch amp from JL Audio and have enough power for Great speakers all around and a Good 12 in or 10 under the seat. The Amp has a small foot print so it too can go under there..

This is a sweet amp

Or if it's too much try...

The C5's are a sweet speaker set up..  I had the old XR's in my old Av for over 5 years and never had a problem or blown speaker Even after playing for over 8 hours at full Volume with 75watts RMS going to them...And any one that heard that system loved it...

I have an 02 with the tweeters in the doors.  I purchased a set of Infinity components but I cut holes in the "A" pillar and installed the tweeters there (just like the 03 & newer). All four of my doors have Infinity speakers, in my opinion they sound great!!!  I also have an Alpine amp under my right rear seat.  I need to finish my install but I love what I have!!
02 Z-71, Pewter, Cladded, Fully Loaded. Mods:  ArmorThaned Cladding, FT Amber DRL's,Mag light mod,Bug Deflector,Door vent shields,Z-71 sun visor decals,Z-71 mountain decals on rear quarters,F@rd torsion bar adjusters,Front KYB shocks,1-1/2" rear coil spring spacers, rear KYB shocks,BFG A/T LT285/70R17, rear bumper cup holders, 05+ efan mod, GMT900 Front Brakes with Drilled & Slotted Rotors on all corners.
