Member  KY_BOB  has a body lift on his 02.  Body lifts are cheaper than the actual lift kit.   Im not sure what size Bob went with but heres a pic of his 02 av.  It looks like a 3" lift but im not sure.

BD, you're right about the 3" lift. He's got 33" tires. I don't know if it's a Performance Accessories lift; that's what I put on my old 94 Sonoma. It was about a 5 hour job and the kit included everything needed - spacers for the bumpers. A lot of the kits don't include these. When you space the body up you can many times see across through the rear wheel wells. I didn't like that on the Sonoma so I bought gap guards, which are just pieces of die cut rubber that extend the wheel well liner.

Body lifts are OK unless you are a hardcore 4-wheeler; if so, you're better off with a suspension lift. I'm sure Bob will be along before too long to fill us in on his lift.

I had put a 3" Trailmaster body lift on my 93 Sub. It was about $130 if I remember correctly. Only thing it didn't have was the rear bumper relocation brackets and the shifter shaft ext. had to take the shifter shaft out and have a 3" piece welded into it. First one I had ever done and doing it by myself I had it out the door tires and all in less than 8 hours.

Here is a pic of it. You can tell it has a body lift because of how low the nerf bars are.

The second is one of my favorites. That was taken in South Dakota a few years back. A forest fire burned through that area several hours after we left.

forgot to add, take a look at the back window, it says "Her Toy", do you see a trend here?

Yes, it's a 3" Performance Accessories.  I also have the gap guards.  IMO they are almost a necessity on an AV.  The back doesn't look as bad as the front without them.  Without the gap guards you can actually see the engine.  :anono1:

You would be surprised at how much it helps off road.  The first 2 things that always hit on a AV are the bumpers which both get lifted with the body lift.  You can still drag the trailer hitch but it doesn't tear off the rear bumper cover like I have seen.  I was off-roading once with TnTrubble and we crossed a ditch.  My trailer hitch bumped the ground, no biggie.  Hers tore the rear bumper badly.  :tickedoff:

I also agree with that.  A body lift helps but if your going to do serious off roading, spend the $1500 for a suspension lift.

AV's have a cable for the shifter so there's no welding required to install a body lift.  There is some minor metal cutting but it's easy with a sawzall or torch.

Also, the way the body sets on a AV it's almost invisible from a side view even with a 3" body lift.  That was not the case on the last truck that I had a body lift on, a 94 Z71.  The frame was very visible on it.

2011 Silverado, Ext Cab Z-71 5.3, 6L80, Airaid CAI, Magnaflow cat-back, and a little tuning by me and HPT.

Gone but not forgotten, 2002 Victory red. The quickest lifted 4x4 AV in the US in it's day.
