My Old Kentucky Home St Park Oct 21, 22, 23
« on: October 12, 2010, 06:25:05 PM »
Myself and Lu n Molly, and the Ski Edition  family will be camping at My Old Kentucky Home St Park  near Bardstown Ky  thur thru sun morning,   anyone want to join us for a day an hour or a couple of days.   I'm sure we can find something to get into trouble with, lol.   After all its the Bourbon Capital of the world!

It really is amazing what all there is to do in Bardstown or close by, steam engine train rides, dinner rides, murder mystery rides.  Shopping and more shopping, historic civil war museums, bourbon tours, hehe.  The evening of the 23rd there is a reasonably priced Opry, (country music of course)  check it out!

http://www.visitbardstown.com/tourism/

Thursday lounge around Bardstown

Friday a trip to the Louisville Slugger Plant and more of Bardstown

Saturday morning we will be visiting the Mammoth Cave and more of Bardstown

I'll have to check with Minor One....

Looks like 7 is the closest available to you, unless I want to be next to the dump station....

Should I bring my golf clubs?  This park looks to be nearly 90% golf course.

Just talked to Minor One.  We're about 90% locked - not sure how many nights yet.  She's thinking about just spending Saturday night and is good with me going down earlier.  I think going to Mammoth Cave hooked her.

Hey Didit and Lu -

We're home now - hope you had an uneventful trip home.  We really enjoyed camping with you guys.

Ski -

Thanks for letting us use your campsite reservation.  Weather was perfect.  We visited and had lunch at a Tavern that Lincoln had stayed at as a boy, not to mention General Patton, Daniel Boone, and others.  We took a tour at Mammoth Cave as well.  We'll have to do this again when you folks can join us.

We went to the Opry Friday night, well ok the Bardstown Opry, it was a house band that was rather decent with performers singing covers,  Mike Boughey has had some airplay on the country western radio stations,  there was Tiffany Puckett, Mac McDaniels,  Christy Miller and Tracy Gabhart singing

This Talbot bar and hotel was quite impressive, even though it had a major fire several years ago, its restored to practically the way it was back in the 1800's, its visitor list is quite impressive to say the least, Jesse James shot up the walls in his room because he got drunk and thought the birds in the mural on the wall was chasing him, the bullet holes are still there!  We were lucky the maid was cleaning Lincolns room and I asked, well I just had to, lol.

Not a problem Greg!  Glad you folks had a great time!!  Hope we can get together soon.  Bardstown looks like a kickin' place!!     Maybe we can take our clubs and hack it up a little bit!

Mother ended up having emergency gall bladder surgery (rupture) on thursday night in Knoxville and went up there.  She got out on Saturday AM and is doing well.   I came back this morning for the Titans-Eagles game.  She is doing well--Thanks for asking Didit.

Yea, my muscles, hands and toe took quite a while to recover.  Looks like you folks did a lot of the touristy activities.  I'm suprised Didit didn't do any modding to your tent??!!  Is the campground worth going back to?  Golf Course?

Campground is tight, but other than that pretty nice, although it is awfully course to the golf course.  The mowers were out before we got up and in the tent, it sounded at times like they were right outside!

With only 39 sites or so, Amber thinks we should try to make it all Avalanches next year!

The golf course looked interesting.  A pretty good amount of elevation changes.  Definitely a course where you'd want a golf cart.

With only 39 sites or so, Amber thinks we should try to make it all Avalanches next year!

The golf course looked interesting.  A pretty good amount of elevation changes.  Definitely a course where you'd want a golf cart.

We'll have to keep this one in mind.  Seems to be somewhat centrally located to quite a few members.  I'd be up for a round of golf also.

I like all the spots you visited. Looks like a great time. We'll see what the job situation is for next year and hope to make it. May have to dig the clubs out of the garage too.

WHERE IT REALLY IS ABOUT THE FRIENDS AND AVY'S, AND NOT THE ALMIGHTY ADVERTISING DOLLAR!
