Overspray on the Cladding ** IT'S DONE, PIX POSTED!!**
« on: October 05, 2010, 12:35:26 PM »
Ok, some of you saw my truck at Bratfest and saw the overspray I'm talking about.
So far I've tried kerosene and acetone. No luck with either. Twiggy suggested  trying a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser and it's had the best results so far however there's still paint on the cladding and I'm trying one more auto body supply shop to see what they say. If they don't have anything it's off to the insurance company to file a claim to see how they want to handle this.

You can see how well the M.E. did cleaning and getting most of the paint but there's still enough left to drive me nuts. I spent about 4 hours Saturday with a buffer getting most of it off of the paint using a product call Pro#31 for clear coat paints.

I have no idea John. I noticed it at Bratfest so it's been on there for a while. From what the guy at the body shop tells me, the truck had to catch it sitting somewhere. If it would have been moving, it would not have that much on it.

I'll give it a shot but I don't hold much hope for it. We tried all kinds of stuff on it yesterday from oil-based to alcohol based.

Since it's been on the paint & cladding for a while I doubt it will work but my brother-in-law uses paint thinner on a rag. He was a painter for years so it was pretty common for him to end up with overspray on his work trucks when they were spraying the outside of a house. The only other thing I could think of to try is Goof Off and once again I doubt it will work.

I lied; one more thing you might try - Gojo Citrus hand cleaner with pumice. Buy a gallon-size bottle, slather it onto the cladding, let it soak a while, then hit it with a scrub brush (maybe try a rag first - the scrub brush might get a little aggressive). I keep it around to clean my hands up after working on the car/house/etc and it works pretty well.

I have some hand wipes with that stuff on it in the back of the avy. I'll try that today if it ever quits raining.  buck2

Tried that. didn't work at all. I think the paint has been on there too long.
