HID's for the Avy!
« on: September 27, 2010, 08:57:54 PM »
Hey guys planning on ordering some HID's for the avy but went on DDm website and well I am new to the HID's so need to know what I need here. I want to get HID's for my headlights and my fogs, mine is an 04 avy with cladding. On the site it asks for Wattage, Bulb Type, Bulb Color, HID Harness, Error Eliminator, and Adaptor cables, so what do I answer for all of these? Thanks for the help!

Lots of info here:
http://www.chevyavalancheclub.com/index.php/topic,5778.0.html

I'm trying to remember what bulbs mine are. I THINK 9006 for the lows and 880's for the fogs in the cladded. I've got the 6000 series for the lows (lots of light and not much blue) and I got the 3000's for the fogs. They're yellow :thumbup:  I didn't order the harness as I've had my lows in for a while now without any issues so I didn't bother with them. Some people like them for peace of mind though.

I'm still looking for the pix of mine with both in it.....

found them in the gallery.

This one shows both the lows and the fogs on. It's damn near impossible to get a good night shot head on. Keep in mind that my driveway slopes down so the low beams are being overpowered by the fogs.

Believe it or not, I just installed a set of 35W, 6K low beams in my truck last night. They've been sitting on the shelf ever since I bought the Vette and they didn't work when I tried to install them. I decided to try them on the Av since there's plenty of room to mess around with them; I ultimately determined that the polarity was reversed on the plug-in to the factory wire harness. All I can say is "HOLY CRAP". My 100W hi-beams look like dog poop compared to the HIDs.

Self-tuned with HP Tuners software.

Hey man, hope all has been going well.  We missed you at Bratfest this year.  Here is what I have learned when it comes to HID.

Cladded AVs 02-06: Low Beams = 9006, High Beams = 9005 & Fogs = 880
WBH AVs: Low Beams = 9006, High Beams = 9005 & Fogs = 9005

I put DDM Tuning HID in my lows, highs & fogs, they are awesome!!!  Don't know how I drove without HID? Below is whay I went with.
Lows = 9006, 35W, 5000k (the most white color)
Highs = 9005, 35W, 5000k
Fogs = 880, 35W, 5000k
I also went with the relay harnesses for all three, I like the added safety!
