What are the best tires anyone has found for their AV?
« on: September 22, 2010, 04:10:50 PM »
I'm kind of stuck on which tire to buy. I'm taking the 20" Chrome rims off and going to the 17" for the winter. I just want to get an idea of what is best for the Z71. I would do some off roading with the 17" but don't really want to sacrifice the comfort or gas mileage not the long trips. (I know 20" rims on a Z71 not my idea, previous owner who would never off road but wants all the bells and whistles.) But I am also looking to get the matching 20" later next summer.
Here are the ones that I'm looking at:

Michelin LTX A/T2

Bridgestone Dueller A/T RH-S

Firestone Destination A/T

Goodyear Wrangler SilentArmor

Any help or experience with any of these tires would be greatly appreciated.

Im not too crazy about the Firestone or the Wrangler, I have the Bridgestone Duellers and have never tried the Michelin's. I don't do any off roading but have travelled across the country and I'm really happy with the Bridgestone.

I personally have always liked the Bridgestone Dueler Revos or just the plain Dueler's. Excellent all season and off roading tire and very quiet on the road. I have had them on all of our 4x4's and they normally last more than the 60,000 miles they are rated at.

Bullbar, Sailpanel LED'S, Elec Tgate & Sbag Locks, Custom Decals, Ventvisors, Lund Bug Guard, Amber's, All 4 Hi FTDRL, Mag Lite/Fire Ext Mod, Headrest Monitors, bedslide

1) Bridgestone Dueler Revos
2) Michelin
3) None of the others

The Bridgestones are a really good all-around compromise tire.

I've got street tread Hankook 20s on my Z71; I'll be going back to all seasons, and most likely the Bridgestones, next time. The Hankooks are really good tires and saved me about $150 over the Bridgestones but I need at least a little off-road traction to get into my farm; they just aren't cutting it very well for that.

Fuzion XTi on my Avy and they run smooth as anything feels like your running on air i have no complaints and they are also only like 125$ a tire on tirerack.com good price

firestone and bridgestone are the same its just a price difference and different tread really....

I keep ending up with Coopers... make some nice rubber  dont like wranglers and BFG off road tires
First you'll lose your mind
then any free cash laying around
Awesome mods will bloat your credit limits
Acting like a crack addict, refinancing your home, farm out the kids......
You'll cry yourself to sleep, stuff like, must get new rims.
Lift it skyward or drop it like it's hott.
Important questions like, polished or chrome, will shadow you day and NIGHT.

The Mrs thinks the Dueller ATs on her Suburban are too loud.

I run summer street performance tires most of the year - snow tires during winter.  I've got 2 Mastercraft mud/snow tires now, and I forget what the other 2 are - I haven't looked at them for months - but they are a better known brand than the Mastercrafts.

18x10 Forged Weld Wheels, BFG g-Force KDWs, JBA shorties, custom catback with FM70, Crane plug wires, Trailblazer Torque Converter, bigger cam, efans, HP Tuners custom tune, WAAG stuff, mildly boosted with Vortech Supercharger.......

Last 3 set have been Nitto TG's.  Love them.  Great handling on-road and tough when hauling camper and minimal off-road trails that I do.

Hankook Atm's here. Quiet on the street, but has some aggressive tread for the dirt. I'm happy with them so far...
