We'd have loved to have you Intimidatoruag, but understand.  We may set up a TV in the garage and at least listen to that game.

Sounds like Didit thinks taking out and removing a transmission is an easy job.  Glad he's coming.  He can do more than just remove the y-pipe!

I sort of thought we'd be doing a lot of grilling while working anyway.  When doing jobs like these with KY_Bob, we'd usually work an hour or two after dinner.  Will probably depend somewhat on when we get rolling in the morning.  Bob and I weren't too much of early starters.

Ski, I was thinking about doing your truck first.  If we did mine first, and heaven-forbid there was an issue with my tranny, my mind wouldn't be totally focused on your truck.  Also, want to make sure yours is good to go before having to hook back up to your trailer and drive back down to TN.  And finally, it looks like we'll be getting some help with tranny swapping experience over the weekend!

As you know swappin the tranny is the easiest, lol.,   drop the drive shaft, loosen the bolt on the tranny mount, put jack in place, remove bolts on bell housing, remove cooler lines and electrical, slightly lift, remove cross member, slide tranny out, If I remember correctly, lol.   I'm gettin old and its been a long time,  the 10th is my birthday, I'll have to check and see if I have a party to attend, lol.

Just got back from picking up the truck from my mechanic.  He decided he felt well enough to install the TC himself.  5 1/2  hours from drop off time to pick up time.  I can't believe what a difference it makes.  Actually feels like I have 5 speeds now!!  Really had to feel it to believe what a difference it makes.   :winkani:

We can do my truck first--that's your call, since yours is only a 5 1/2 hour job.     (That's what Didit said)

I've been told that I have to be here on the 5th (birthday), so plan on leaving early AM on 6th and get up there and get set up and be at your house by 1000ish.

OBB---You and Deb have a place to stay.  My family may be coming for the weekend, but you folks are covered!!

The basics are easy, lol, I never once said how many hours it would take, I remember once when Charlie (my son) was in High School it took me two and a half weeks for a front wheel drive trany on a little Buick we had gotten for him.
Took my two and a half hours on a swap on a 82 Chevy Wagon, hehe

We'll get it done!!  The mechanic today took the transfer case out also, but when I had the tranny rebuilt, he didn't.   I'm sure there's more than one way to slay this beast!!
