Borla Pro XS - Video
« on: September 07, 2010, 01:26:39 PM »
So I went ahead and got my exhaust done today. Ordered a Borla Pro XS from summit for $100. Had it put on today and I love it. I wanted something quite enough to hear and talk with ease in the cab but loud and aggressive enough as well. I can honestly say the Borla matched my criteria 110%.

Specs, 3" in 2.5" out with dual's at 45 degrees. Everything else is stock.

03 Avalanche Borla ProXS

Haven't heard many 5.3's with Borla's, and by the way this thing sounds, I can't figure out why...

It sounds really good. How's the in-cab resonance?

I've got a Hooker Maximum Flow that's fairly quiet most of the time but resonates in the cab pretty badly from 1800-2000 rpm. It's worst in my truck at 64 mph which is unfortunately right at much of my normal commute speed. My tires are 32" and I've got 4.10s. I'm going to try a glass pack as a resonator and see if I can move the resonant frequency to a less-irritating rpm range. I'm not getting hurt too much even if I decide to scrap it as I've only got $35 in the muffler.
2002 LPM Z71, factory 4.10s - Magnacharger w/3" pulley, TOG's headers, 216/224-.551/.551-115 cam/pushrods/dual springs/titanium retainers, built tranny, Yank TT2600 stall converter, 24K GVW Tru-Cool tranny cooler,  Flex-A-Lites, ProCold intake, MSD wires & TR6 plugs, 20" Panther Juice 6's, 2.8" rear lowering springs & assorted hardware, J&J Enterprises stainless grille, body-color painted taillight covers. Self-tuned with HP Tuners software.

Cracked rear bumper cover from a run-in with a deer in fall 2008!

doesn't resonate bad at all! around 1800-2000 like you said it does just a little but its barely noticeable. like I stated in my first post, no problems at all talking or hearing over it, especially with the windows up. now the 33"s, thats a different story

about 20 miles maybe,  now over 1500 on it and sounds even better. I don't know what kind of tips they are, just generic ones from my local shop, they are either 3" or 4" tips I believe, and probably the standard 18" long. But I'm not sure.

they look really close to these, http://www.summitracing.com/parts/JEX-PAC418SS/

I have the twin to your muffler and I don't have the in cab drone. Maybe I need to head over your way again and you can take a ride in mine and we can compare how the muffler's are ran. I know you are putting out a lot more horsepower and all but I didn't think it would make that big of a difference out the exhaust. I need to stop by Fowlhunter's anyway and grab the tailight gaurds from him. Let me know.
