Another thread pulled from the dust!

Under heavy articulation my rear tires were still rubbing the gap guards on my inner fender. I had heated and massaged them for more clearance, but they were still too close for comfort. I had plans to upgrade the rear brakes to ReactiveOne slotted rotors and AdaptiveOne ceramic pads, so this was the time to install 1.5" rear wheel spacers too.



These are hub centric and shipped to my home for $69.99 a pair. I purchased them from ebay seller cjbargains too. Nice product and a reasonable price. In this application the hub-centric design offers a better match to the wheels mounting surface. Wheels studs are matched to the stock size.
Installing them required cutting/grinding off 1/4" of the pilot on the axle wheel studs. The tip would protrude to interfere with the wheels mounting surface without this modification.
The spacer hub to wheel center hole was a snug fit. I may regret not cleaning them up better and adding a little anti-seize?

All done and a few days on them now. I like them. Maybe slightly wider in the back than I would have preferred, but not too bad. This should have the rear track width a little over an inch and a half wider than the front now.



The tire still has about 1" coverage at the top. I have a couple good test trips scheduled this month so I will get a chance to give them a workout and see how well they work.

Henry, What was the name for the listing for those? I just checked and cj only had toyota and ford spacers. I'm wondering if you just matched our bolt pattern to a listing and pulled the trigger, or was there an actual listing for the Avy?

Mine were listed as 2005 2006 CHEVY GMC 6 X 5.5 WHEEL SPACERS ADAPTERS 1.5 (shows 9 pair available at this time)
Under the Compatibility list my 2005 Avalanche 1500 is listed.
You can select your vehicle in the Year,make, model, sub model. 2002 Avalanche 1500 is also listed as compatible. I would venture to say that these will fit all the 1500 Avalanche.

The picture in the listing does not show the hub centric spacers. The description does say these are 78..1 center bore hub centric and that is what arrives.
The description also states "will not fit: 4x4" but the next line says "full size Blazers" I am not sure what that is all about?
Rest assured that they fit my 4x4 just fine. The center bore is correct, the bolt circle correct and the wheel stud size correct.

You will need a thin wall 3/4" (18mm) socket and grinder to install them.
The stock wheel studs are more than 1.5" long and need to be cut off or ground down before installation. Don't cut all the way down to the threads as this makes starting the nut difficult. Grind or cut off about half of the unthreaded pilot section of the wheel stud.
Clean any rust or oxidation from the mating surfaces of the hub, rotor, wheel and center bore. Install them using the supplied wheel lug nuts with the thin wall socket and torque to 150 lb ft.

I would suggest taking the time to pull the wheels off after about a 100 mile run in period and recheck the torque on the spacers. There after check them during tire rotation. This same procedure should be followed for any new wheels.

It sure is nice not to hear it rub even a tiny bit when taking a big curb cut quickly. I should be able to stuff a tire now without rubbing the fender on the back.

I bought the $70 1.5" spacers from cjbargains for my Avalanche. (link included in the previous post)

Be careful when buying wheel adapters. Make sure the billet stock is a good alloy and large enough stock to have adequate material outside the reliefs for the studs and nuts. If you have a choice opt to purchase the hub-centric for that extra level of security.

to be honest, i would go with one that compliments the wider tire.  if stock wheel/tire combo is "x" amount away from hitting the sidewall, it should stay that way.  for instance, one inch is approx 25mm. if you have a stock size of 265mm and you want 305mm, a 1" spacer should be more than sufficient:
